The equine spa is a "Jacuzzi-style" treatment that provides vigorously aerated water which bubbles-up from the floor of the spa. The horse stands in a sealed tank which creates a depth of 3ft of water.
"The water temperature of the spa is important," says Jane Dewhurst. "It needs to be around 3-4 degrees and can be fortified with mineral salts to provide specific remedial treatments."
The horse or pony stands
in the tank for up to 20
minutes during which
time the bubbling water
stimulates circulation.
The equine spa is recommended as a
rejuvenation treatment for horses and as an
alternative to swimming. It's an effective healing
treatment for horses with problems such as sore
shins and helps improve circulation, enhance
muscle tone, relax muscle spasms and treat adhesions.
